Heetaek Kang is an associate professor in the Department of Family Medicine at Yonsei University College of Medicine. He earned a bachelor's degree in Biotechnology from Yonsei University College of Engineering, a medical degree from Yonsei University College of Medicine, and a doctoral degree in Medicine from the same institution. He also served as a visiting professor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Public Health from 2019 to 2020. Currently, he specializes in long-term cancer survivorship, cancer pain management, hospice care, metabolic syndrome, and health promotion at Severance Hospital. He has served as director of multiple cancer centers at Chungbuk National University Hospital, including the Regional Cancer Center and Hospice Palliative Care Center, and held key positions such as Clinical Practice Guidelines Director of the Korean Academy of Family Medicine and Education Director of the Korean Geriatrics Society. Professor Kang has received prestigious awards including the Minister of Health and Welfare Award for cancer survivor integrated care and multiple research excellence awards from major medical societies. Professor Kang emphasizes that family medicine research is fundamentally about "providing comprehensive care throughout the entire cancer journey, from prevention to survivorship." |
